Leon Edward Josephson, 89, of Freeland, WA, passed peacefully at his Mutiny Bay home on October 21, 2023.
Leon was born on February 2, 1934, at the family farmhouse near Useless Bay on Whidbey Island WA. He
attended the Bayview School as a youth and graduated from Langley High School in 1952.
Leon was drafted into the US Army and served in the Korean War from 1953-1955.
He wed his Pacific Grocery co-worker Ardella Kahns in 1957 and they started a family in Marysville, WA, raising daughter Jamie and son Jeffrey.
Leon was a Teamsters Union Member from 1956-1994 working for Pacific Grocery, Bay Distributing, and
Riverside Beverage. Leon was predeceased by his wife of 63 years Ardella Kahns, parents, John and Olga
Josephson, and his brother(s) Harry and Alver.
He is survived by his daughter Jamie Jones (Jeffrey), son Jeffrey Josephson (Patty). “Papa Leon” – “Mr.
Whidbey Island” was a loving grandfather to 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren as well as an uncle to several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeland, WA on December 9, 2023, at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
