Mary Jane Brundage Thomson, passed away peacefully at the age of 94 surrounded by her loving family in Kalispell Montana on March 17, 2024. Mary was born on April 17, 1929, in Topeka, Kansas. She was one of five siblings: Hazel, Hope, Dorothy and Jim born to Clell and Goldie Brundage. During the Great Depression, the family relocated to Forest Grove, Oregon in search of a better life.
Mary met her husband, Elmo in High School. They were married in 1948 and eventually settled in the Pacific Northwest where they raised their five children, Sheri, Dave Dan, Tim and Tom. Mary and Elmo moved to Whidbey Island in 1969.Mary worked alongside Elmo keeping the books for the family business, Thomson and Sons. They were active in theirlocal church, Trinity Lutheran in Freeland Wa. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elmo in 2005.
Mary loved to spend time with her family and especially cherished the time she spent with her grandkids and great grandkids. Her selflessness extended beyond her immediate family as well. Mary Jane touched the lives of many with her kindness and tolerance. She had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved whenever they entered her home.
In her later years, she traveled to the Holy Land and toured Europe with her church group, which was a definite highlight for her. Mary made many trips to Montana to visit family there. Mary is survived by her children, Sheri, Dave, Dan, Tim and Tom. Daughters in Law, Annie, Gail and Darcy. Grandchildren, Amber, Jason, Rory, Devon, Rachel, Jacob, Cassie, Morgan, Garret, Ellie, Karen, Julie, Ian and Shane. Great Grandchildren, Lane, Chloe, Claire, Colt, Jaden, Seraphina and Luca and Great-Great Grandchildren, Lane Jr, Parker, Kelyn, and Will.
We invite you to join us for a celebration of Mary Jane’s life at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeland Washington on April 27th at 1:00 PM where we will honor the incredible impact she made during her time here with us.
In lieu of flowers or gifts please consider making donations to your local food bank or charity organization as this would have been something very dear to Mom’s heart. Mary Jane’s departure has left an irreplaceable void in our hearts, but we find solace knowing that she is now resting peacefully with her beloved husband after a lifetime dedicated to serving others. Her unwavering love and kindness will continue to inspire us all.
