Grace Ellis Brookhart Ojala and Harold Ernest Ojala of Langley will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary June 16. A celebration begins at 2 p.m. at the Rod and Gun Club at 3334 Brooks Hill Road in Langley.
Grace Ojala was born in Kenton, Okla. on June 10, 1933. Harold Ojala was born in Casper, Wyoming on Dec. 18, 1925.
The Ojalas are 23-year members of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Langley.
Grace Ojala is an artist and was a member of the Artists of South Whidbey. She also enjoyed kicking up her heels as a member of the ballroom dancing and tap dance group the Rickety Rockettes and as a member of Erlinda Gillett’s Polynesian Dance Group in Coupeville.
Grace Ojala is a volunteer at the soup kitchen every week and is active with other church activities.
Harold Ojala retired at 55 from Boeing as an electronics technician in the Experimental Division. He is an avid photographer.
The couple has traveled by car to every state in the union and to all 10 provinces in Canada. They have taken cruises on river boats and ocean liners and have visited many countries, including Egypt and Israel.
They have three married children, including son and daughter-in-law John and Teresa Ojala of Bellevue; daughter and son-in-law Vira Ojala Ludwick and David Ludwick of Everett; and son and daughter-in-law Bruce and Gretchen Ojala of Covington.
The Ojalas also have six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
