Community members gathered to plant new life around Langley during the third monthly Spruce Up Langley event Thursday, Sept. 5.
Three people joined to plant 12 fall-colored chrysanthemums in two locations along Second Street in Langley. The group worked for about an hour to complete the job.
Janet Ploof, president of the Langley Main Street Association, said she would like more people to get involved with the spruce-up project to help the city look its best.
Ploof said the gardens provide a way to draw people in to the community.
Bernita Sanstad took part in the event and said the gardens are a good way to welcome people to Langley.
Sanstad gardens at the vegetable garden in front of City Hall every day. She considers herself a garden ambassador for the city.
The event is the first Thursday of each month. For more information, visit www.langleymainstreet.org
