Whidbey’s Pony League team rallied from a five-run deficit to stun a Seattle team Wednesday.

Down 7-5 in the sixth inning, the Whidbey Crabs surged ahead for a 9-7 victory.

Mitchell Grady started the game as Whidbey’s pitcher and gave up an early lead to Seattle. He settled to shut out Seattle through the fourth inning.

Connor Antich pitched the fifth inning and allowed a run to give Seattle a 6-3 lead. The Crabs battled back to pick up two runs to close the gap to 6-5.

Lewis Pope replaced Antich in the sixth, when Seattle picked up a run for a 7-5 lead going into the bottom of the sixth inning.

Whidbey stormed back with four runs with Pope’s timely hit to give the Crabs the lead. Will Simms closed the door on Seattle in the seventh inning as Whidbey’s pitcher.

Pope tallied two hits for the Crabs while Josiah Seargent and Simms produced five RBI for the contest. Antich scored three times.

The Crabs (10-2 in Mountlake Terrace Youth Athletic Association games) host Bothell on Sunday for a doubleheader beginning at noon.
