To the editor:
Recently, after helping a friend put up and take down signs erected for his bid for fire commissioner, we found that a number of these signs had been childishly vandalized prior to the election.
I wonder. What type of person commits such an act? A small, morally bankrupt-type who never takes the time to look into his own mirror? Oh, there I go again. Answering my own question.
Perhaps if this person or persons did look, he/she would be compelled to come forward with an apology to Gary.
The Gabeleins have lived here on Whidbey for more than a hundred years. For decades, he and his family have made many contributions to the good of this community. For years he captained us and our families safely back and forth between Mukilteo and Clinton, and as a fireman has left family gatherings, gotten up in the middle of night to render aid to accident victims, fair weather or foul.
Did he not then have the same right as his opponents to run for election?
