LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Fest was a success

To the editor:

Daughters of Norway, Ester Moe Lodge No. 39, would like to sincerely thank our wonderful community for coming to our 10th annual Nordic Fest, which in many ways feels much like a reunion of friends.

Once again, the success of Nordic Fest was due to the efforts of many, including our wonderful vendors who came from far and near. If you missed them at Nordic Fest, you can find our local vendors right here in our community, like the Celtic Viking of Langley, Kitchen Pantry LLC of Coupeville, Karin’s Scandinavian Mustards of Greenbank and Wood ‘n It of Camano Island.

We would also like to thank the entertainers who succeeded in bringing such a festive and enjoyable atmosphere to the day.

We were treated to performances by Vern Olsen, Talia Marcus, Tre Norsk, Yours Truly, the Randy Bradley Band and the Northwest Nordic Ladies’ Chorus. Not only did the Young Skandia Dansers perform beautifully, they also provided wonderful craft tables and activities for the children.

But most of all, we thank the great community members who came out to support us. We appreciate each and every one of you, and thank you for joining us.

A special thank you from all those lefse lovers goes out to PayLess Foods of Freeland for its generous donation of

100 pounds of potatoes. We appreciate also the coverage given our event by the Record, Senior Services Guide of Island County, Whidbey Marketplace, The Scandinavian Hour with Doug Warne on KKNW Radio, the Norwegian American Weekly, Norway.com, and Pam Mock of Coldwell Banker Tara Properties for including us in her calendar mailing. We are grateful always for their support of community. We send a big thank you to South Whidbey High School and their staff who were such a great help during the event.

Each year we endeavor to make Nordic Fest better than ever and prepare for months in order to make that happen. We enjoy very much sharing our heritage with our friends and neighbors, and hope once again that you had a wonderful time. We sure did! Tusen takk to all!
