The state Department of Transportation, Ferries Division scaled back service on the Clinton and Coupeville ferry runs  on Sunday, Sept. 22.

The schedule changes eliminated some early morning and late night sailings on the Clinton-to-Mukilteo route.

In the new schedule, early-morning sailings leave Clinton starting at 4:40 a.m. and 5:10 a.m., then every 30 minutes after that Monday through Friday.

Evening sailings cease their half-hour runs at 8:30 p.m. on weekdays, though an 8:55 p.m. sailing will run Saturday, Sundays and holidays, and a 9:50 p.m. sailing will run Saturdays.

Ferry fares will also increase on the Clinton-to-Mukilteo route starting Oct. 1. A one-way ticket for vehicles between 14 and 22 feet will increase 25 cents to $8.10, and to $10.05, a 30-cent jump, during peak season from May 1 to Sept. 30

The multi-ride pass will cost $130.60, an increase of four dollars.

Passenger fares, including walk-on commuters, will increase 10 cents to $4.75 for a single ticket, and multi-ride passes will increase to $38.50. Youth fare will decrease to $2.50 from $3.75.

Two-boat service will continue on the Coupeville to Port Townsend route until Monday, Oct. 14. The standard vehicle fare will increase 30 cents to $10.50 for a single rider — $13.05 in peak season — and multi-ride passes will jump almost $5 to $169. One-way passenger fare will increase five cents to $3.15 and multi-ride passes will increase 80 cents to $51.40. Youth fare will drop to $1.70.
