Renovating the boat ramp at Possession Beach and some final work for South Whidbey Harbor at Langley are up for public discussion Tuesday, Aug. 12.
The Port of South Whidbey commissioners will meet at 7:15 p.m. for a quick workshop before delving into the regular business meeting. For the South Whidbey Harbor marina expansion, the commissioners will review the final payment release to the contractor, Mike Carlson Enterprises. Signage, which has gone through a couple of rounds of review between the port and the City of Langley’s Design Review Board, will also be discussed.
Trying to secure offsite parking for the Langley harbor will be talked about as well. The port worked with the South Whidbey School District for a while on an agreement to allow boat trailers and towing vehicles to park at the old middle school bus barn. That was canceled, however, leaving the port with only two options: in front of the marina or at the Island Church of Whidbey, which is lost for church services Sundays.
For the Possession Beach boat ramp renovation project, the commissioners will look over a draft of the shoreline conditional use permit, the SEPA checklist, a biological evaluation, coastal geologic analysis and the Joint Aquatic Resources Permit Application.
Commissioners will go over the executive director job description and amend the contract for a management consultant. Dane Anderson has filled in while the port restructures its administration.
