South Whidbey High School volleyball coach Mandy Jones has scheduled two camps in July, one for girls in grades six through eight, the second for high school-age girls.
“This third annual camp is designed to bring individuals together as a team while improving technique, progression and acquiring advanced skills to improve game performance,” Jones said. “Whether you are a beginner or an advanced player, you will learn the skills necessary to better your individual skill and progress your volleyball career.”
Helping out once again is Gylton Da Matta, a three-time Brazilian national champion, whose coaching skills led several volleyball players to become world champions. Da Matta is involved in all aspects of volleyball research.
“He travels the country doing volleyball camps for schools, and we are so lucky to have him back for our clinic,” Jones said.
The fee is $160. The camp for sixth- to eighth-graders starts at 8 a.m. Thursday, July 12 at the high school gym. Girls in grades nine through 12 will start at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 14.
