To the editor:

I have been following the proposal to begin each county commissioners meeting with a prayer.

Sounds like people think we are mixing religion and state.

Perhaps they would think differently about it — if there was an effort to begin each meeting with kindness.

I think that is really what they are asking: “Can we do something in the beginning of the meeting that will set the stage for kindness?” And really, shouldn’t we be asking this of ourselves for every interaction we have?
