Cary Jurriaans of Whidbey Island Fine Art Studio in Langley garnered two awards at the juried art show at the Coupeville Arts and Crafts Festival.
The Art Gallery Show at the Coupeville Recreation Hall was hosted by the Pacific Northwest Art School. Jurriaans took “Best in Show” for her oil painting, “Sustenance,” and won second place in the 2D category for her oil painting, “Morandi Re-Invented.”
In a blog post, Jurriaans wrote she was inspired by Georgio Morandi.
“To be honest, I don’t really like his work,” she wrote. “However, I do like his simplicity and his limited palette and the subtle gradations of hue, tone and objects arranged in a unifying atmospheric haze.”
