Merv Scott, projects director for the Victoria Genealogy Society and an enthusiastic volunteer, will be the featured speaker at the Genealogical Society of South Whidbey Island’s April meeting.

The organization will meet at 1 p.m. Monday, April 14, in the community building chapel at Trinity Lutheran Church, Freeland.

Scott spends much of his time working on genealogy projects which include: recruiting teachers to develop a free online resource for teachers and students called “Genealogy in the Classroom;” writing the youth activity book “Who’s in your family tree?;” leading the “Voices of the Past” audio memory project; and more.

Scott is also an avid traveler abroad and kayaker.

He will give an overview of where Canadian genealogical records may be found, from federal government archives and provincial regulatory bodies to genealogy societies.
