The Clinton Progressive Association will meet tonight to elect new officers and board members.

The gathering is the annual membership meeting for the volunteer group that keeps the doors open at Clinton Community Hall, the home to countless community meetings and events. Most recently, the venue hosted voters forums for the 2009 General Election.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome, and non-members are invited to come learn about the community asset.

“For those of you who have been in Clinton Hall lately, you will have noticed what a great facility the hall now is,” said Elisa Miller, a board member for the association. “Clinton Hall is becoming much better known as a ‘jewel’ of a place for business meetings, parties, citizen forums, weekend conferences. It’s completely accessible to the handicapped. It’s a short distance for walk-on ferry passengers.”

“Best of all in our estimation — by the end of this month we will have completed the installation of a permanent generator to activate during power outages,” she added. “This means Clinton Hall will be a fully functioning public space/shelter at all times and in any emergency.”

The meeting will include ice-cream sundaes, a warm fire and a chance to meet neighbors.
