To the editor:
What would you do as a leader of a hospital with declining volumes and revenue and which had just lost a bond measure election?
Well if you were at Whidbey General Hospital, you’d financially sponsor a wine tasting, a wine country theme dinner and a golf tournament.
Now I support the Freeland Chamber, the Useless Bay Golf & Country Club event and the generous business sponsors in the fund raiser. But the use of public funds for sponsorship of such an event is not appropriate in these times. Does WGH think that an advertising opportunity such as this will fill the hospital beds and it’s coffers?
If this is what Whidbey General leaders do with our money during its difficult financial situation just think of what they can do if they ever got that $50 million bond passed. We’ll be watching WGH Superbowl halftime commercials!
