LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Whidbey candidates couldn’t have missed deadline

To the editor:

After reading the article, it certainly seemed to me that it must have come directly from Bakke’s office and that you simply put your name on it.

How likely is it that no other candidate would have filed in time for the race?

Did you or anybody bother to check the facts? Clearly someone must have been on lunch break. Maybe the auditor who is tasked with checking records and is supposed to communicate with her staff might check her e-mail when not practicing partisan politics and calling the paper.

The time, money and energy spent by all the other candidates would lead one to believe that all of them would have made certain, that at least part of their campaign would have been promptly submitted.
