Editor,
Regarding your article, “Old tire complaint rolls over Langley mayor,” clearly the city failed to respond adequately for over a year to a potentially serious pollution problem on its own property, very sensitive property adjacent our water well, our wetlands, our creeks, our homes, and our schoolyard.
I trust that city officials will now see that the area is appropriately tested, and the mess cleared-away promptly.
However, this situation speaks to the requirement that our future leaders be fully attuned to our need for a safe and healthy environment. There is also a clear need to be open and able to own-up to mistakes. My policies and actions as mayor of Langley will reflect a strong commitment to protecting our sensitive environment, and continue my decades-long resolve to be open and forthcoming with everyone in our community.
