Registering historic buildings and homes in Langley will resume with a full commission next year.

Langley’s Historic Preservation Commission took a hit this year as several members resigned, leaving the commission’s chair, Bob Waterman, without much help. Seven of the group’s nine meetings were canceled this year.

“So we didn’t accomplish a great deal,” Waterman said.

Adding a final member, Louise Prewitt, to the commission will allow the group to better tackle its work plan of identifying historic properties and working with owners to add their building to the city’s register.

“She has a tremendous amount of knowledge and personal history within this city,” said Mayor Fred McCarthy.

In September, the Historic Preservation Commission added Bob Thurmond and Rich Frishman to its seven-member ranks.

“I look forward to working with a new group,” Waterman said.
