A wind advisory is in effect for the Admiralty Inlet area, which includes Whidbey Island, until 3 a.m. Wednesday.
The National Weather Service office in Seattle issued the advisory Tuesday morning, and it also includes the Washington Coast and Northwest Interior.
The strongest winds are expected late Tuesday morning and will last through the evening.
Southeast winds from 20 to 35 mph, with gusts up to 45 to 55 mph, are expected. Weather officials said the winds may topple trees and cause power outages.
