Deer Lagoon is already lost | LETTER TO THE EDITOR

To the editor:

I understand exactly the concerns of Useless Bay Colony and the golf course residents regarding the Deer Lagoon salmon recovery project. I wonder how they would feel if the whole project was done in secret, and then suddenly a few residents on the golf course were assessed to pay for the whole salmon project.

At least this project is transparent, and everybody has a chance to express their views.

Of course, this was not the case for the infamous, illegal 9,600-gallons-per-minute pump that now spews contaminated environmentally unsafe sewage into the northeast corner of Deer Lagoon. The Deer Lagoon 9,600 gpm pump is the result of Diking District 1 secretly manipulating the political system to pump their wetlands dry and then assess a few people to pay for it.

This Deer Lagoon pump is only about 400 yards away from the Salmon Recovery Project. Let’s face it. Deer Lagoon is lost. How can a small environmentally sensitive area like Deer Lagoon withstand all these huge changes? It is starting to smell like what it will become — a cess pool. Next, they will begin to fix Useless Bay itself. Change you can believe in.
