The Port of South Whidbey will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for the completion of the South Whidbey Harbor expansion project from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, April 25.
The expansion added two docks to the facility to increase boater capacity.
U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen, a Second District Democrat, is expected to attend and speak from 1-2 p.m. State Rep. Norma Smith, R-Clinton; state Sen. Barbara Bailey, R-Oak Harbor; and host of local officials are also expected to be in attendance.
During the ceremony, South Whidbey Fire’s new emergency response vessel will display its capabilities, in addition to sailing demonstrations by the South Whidbey Yacht Club.
Larsen will also visit Neil’s Clover Patch Cafe at 2:30 p.m. to discuss immigration reform with members of Whidbey Island’s chapter of MoveOn. He will conclude with a tour of Langley’s Second Street improvement project at 3:45 p.m.
