Fire is a sacred symbol common to the beliefs and rituals of many cultures.
At the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Whidbey Island service on Sunday, the congregation will explore the use of fire in the traditions of the Winter Solstice, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and the Unitarian Universalist Chalice.
All are welcome to join in the start of the New Year with a candle-lighting ceremony that will affirm our best intentions for ourselves, our families, our community, our country and our world.
Values-based children’s programs and child care will be available.
The service is at 10 a.m. at 20103 Highway 525, just north of Freeland. Check www.whidbey.com/uucwi for more information.
