Support for three South End levies on Tuesday’s ballot increased with the latest vote tally released by the Island County elections department late Thursday.

In the latest vote count, the approval rate for South Whidbey School District’s capital-and-technology levy has increased from 60.5 percent to 61.2 percent. The measure is passing, 3,787-2,397.

The school district’s replacement maintenance-and-operations levy also picked up more “yes” votes than “no” votes in the most recent tally. The approval rate has ticked up to 62.9 percent from 62.1 percent and is passing, 3,896-2,295.

Both school levies needed a simple majority to pass.

The replacement M&O levy for the South Whidbey Parks & Recreation District is also getting a little more support in the latest count. The approval rate for the levy climbed to 62.2 percent today, up from 61.7 percent in the first vote tally.

The measure is passing, 3,754-2,271. It needs 60 percent of the vote to pass.

County elections staff estimate another 20 ballots will be received and counted by the next ballot count on Thursday, Feb. 18.

Voter turnout in the 31 precincts that participated in the special election is now estimated to be 54.7 percent.
