A one-acre plot on the southeast edge of Lone Lake may become part of the South Whidbey Parks & Recreation District in the not-too-distant future. Now owned by the Department of Fish and Wildlife, the land is located across from Quigley Road and Bayview Road, down a steep embankment and features a fishing dock.
Area neighbors contacted the park district after efforts to get a dense grove of trees removed by Fish and Wildlife failed.
The property is assessed at $508,000, but the state may be willing to part with it after an appraisal is made. Should the district find the needed funds, the land would be ideal for fishing or canoe and paddle-boat related activities, according to program coordinator Carrie Monforte.
