Back to cracking form, the Whidbey Crabs blasted the Bothell Blue Devils in a doubleheader last weekend.
The Whidbey team swept Bothell in Pony League action on Sunday at South Whidbey Community Park 12-2 and 11-1 to bring their season record to 12-2.
Josiah Seargent pitched and hit the Crabs to a convincing win over the Blue Devils in the opener. He threw four innings on the mound to pick up the victory and added three hits and three RBI to lead the locals. Connor Antich also tallied three hits and scored three runs as the Crabs’ lead-off batter. Austin Sterba added three runs hitting behind Antich. Lewis Pope closed the game with two shutout innings on the pitching mound.
In the second game, Trent Piehler pitched his best game of the season with four innings of two-hit ball, shutting out the Blue Devils through the first four innings. Austin Sterba came in to hold the visitors in the final two frames and end the game early in the sixth inning with the 10-run rule, 11-1.
Antich, Pope, Will Simms and Dylan Woodward added two hits each to complete the 12-hit attack by Whidbey.
The Crabs face Kirkland on Wednesday evening Whidbey will return to action at home June 2.
