LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Companies should not keep secrets about food

Editor, I don’t know whether genetically-modified food is harmful or not. But the idea that I must be prevented from knowing what’s in my food is insulting and ludicrous.

Editor,

I don’t know whether genetically-modified food is harmful or not. But the idea that I must be prevented from knowing what’s in my food is insulting and ludicrous.

Washington voters have the opportunity to send a message to Monsanto and other agribusiness corporations who want to keep the public in the dark about what we’re eating. Vote “Yes” on I-522.

Monsanto alone has spent over $5 million trying to defeat Washingtonians’ right to know. The fact is, nobody is against I-522 except pesticide and junk food manufacturers, who want to keep us blissfully ignorant about what they’re putting in our bodies.

Don’t let them win.
