China City now offers more than tiger prawns and rice noodles.

The owners of the Freeland restaurant completed construction of a 22,000-square-foot, first-floor addition that will include 9,000 square feet of commercial space.

The year-long renovation allowed owner Jack Ng to create three commercial office suites that will be available through South Island Properties.

The Roth Co. renovated the space which features a blend of modern Chinese styling and classic Western craftsmanship.

The suites offer amenities including high-speed Internet access, wired ethernet connections, security systems, storage, a common reception area, a kitchenette, a three-story elevator and more.

“We really look forward to seeing the space come alive and become something more useful than a storage area,” Ng said.

At 5:30 p.m. Thursday,

May 22, Ng will open the spaces for a special preview.

China City is one of two Ng family restaurants; the family’s other restaurant is the Imperial at Kasteel in Oak Harbor.
