Gov. Christine Gregoire will make a campaign stop in Langley later this month, according to the Island County Democratic Party.
The visit is set for 2 p.m. Monday, July 21.
Sen. Mary Margaret Haugen, D-Camano Island, will be traveling with the governor to Langley. The 10th District senator will introduce Gregoire to voters at the small stage next to Useless Bay Coffee Company on Second Street.
After the rally on the lawn, Gregoire plans a walk up First Street to visit with merchants.
Gregoire is seeking a second term as governor and the race is a rematch against Republican Dino Rossi, who lost to Gregoire in 2004 amid a highly controversial recount.
Rossi is coming to Whidbey Island, as well, this month.
The former state senator will visit Whidbey Island next week for a fundraising luncheon to support 10th District lawmaker Norma Smith.
The fundraiser is at noon Tuesday, July 15 at the Whidbey Golf and Country Club in Oak Harbor.
Though Rossi lost the governor’s race in 2004, he outpolled Gregoire in Island County and took 51 percent of the vote.
Rossi currently leads Gregoire in fundraising in Island County, according to the state Public Disclosure Commission.
According to campaign finance records on file with the state, Rossi has raised $57,267 so far in Island County. Gregoire has raised $35,803.
Gregoire leads in overall fundraising, however. She has collected contributions totaling $7.6 million, while Rossi has raised $5.9 million.
