Local Republican luminaries gathered for the South Whidbey Republican Women’s luncheon at the Useless Bay Golf & Country Club recently.

Local Republican luminaries gathered for the South Whidbey Republican Women’s luncheon at the Useless Bay Golf & Country Club recently.

Present were Kirby Wilbur, chairman of the Washington State Republican Party and Norma Metcalf, South Whidbey Republican Women’s member and wife of the late Jack Metcalf, who served as U.S. House of Representative, 2nd Congressional District from 1995 to 2001. In 2008, the Clinton ferry terminal was named after Rep. Metcalf.

Also present was State Representative Barbara Bailey, who announced on March 26 that she will be a candidate to run for the District 10 State Senate.

Finally, the G.O.P. event was rounded out by the presence of retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Dan Matthews, a Mukilteo resident who announced last week that he will challenge Democratic U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen for his seat representing the 2nd Congressional District.
