The Friday Night Flight wine and food tasting returns to Langley next week.
The event is hosted by Prima Bistro, The Fish Bowl, Chef’s Pantry and The Edgecliff. The mini culinary tour, coming from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on June 6, features wines from the south of France.
Each venue will offer a sampling of wine paired with a small plate, cheese or appetizer. Tickets cost $20 per person and are available at any of the participating venues.
Destination sales tax class to be held:
Businesses can learn how to comply with the new destination sales tax legislation that becomes effective July 1 at a workshop.
The workshop is being sponsored by the Island County Economic Development Council and the Langley Chamber of Commerce. The class will be conducted by Washington State Department of Revenue representative Gary Davis.
The free workshop is at 3:30 p.m. Monday, June 9 at South Whidbey High School.
Computers will be available to assist businesses in navigating and using the new Department of Revenue online tools.

Antique sale is this weekend:
The Red Rooster Antique Mall celebrates its first anniversary with a special sales event through Monday, June 2.
Lots of discounted antiques and home decor items are available, along with refreshments.
The Red Rooster is located at 1635 Main St. in Freeland and is open from 10 a.m to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12:30 to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
‘Green’ brokers work on Whidbey:

EcoBrokers are licensed Realtors who’ve invested in their education and completed the courses and examinations required for certification as knowledgeable about environmental issues that impact real estate.
Four EcoBrokers practice on Whidbey Island. Three — Linda Beeman, Shellie Moore and John Joynt — work with Windermere Real Estate/South Whidbey.
Their mission is to promote responsible development, sustainable design and affordable housing. That certification helps clients find or sell energy-efficient, healthier homes that are more comfortable to live in and have higher resale values. National surveys indicate that 80 percent of consumers consider themselves “green-minded.”
