Street plan includes First, Anthes work in Langley

Any major work on transportation in the next six years is already laid out in Langley’s transportation improvement plan.

The plan runs from 2015 to 2020. Streets in the plan included First, Park streets, the Noble Creek trail, connecting South Whidbey Harbor with Cascade, linking Cascade to Third, Saratoga, Edgecliff, and creating a Second Street walkway from Melsen Alley to DeBruyn Avenue.

The project’s total price tag of $6.52 million is based on early estimates included in the public works director’s report.

Some of the impending projects include milling and overlays to First and Park streets, developing and purchasing property for the Noble Creek trail, and waterfront accessibility via an elevator or the proposed funicular.

The council discussed the plan at Monday’s meeting and is expected to vote on it at the Monday, Aug. 4 meeting.
