Nowlin prepares to assume role on school board

She also attended the board meeting as an observer. Nowlin ran uncontested in the November general election to fill the position formerly held by Steve Scoles. He stepped down last month.

Nowlin, the board and Superintendent Jo Moccia all attended the annual Washington State School Directors Association conference on Nov. 20 and Nov. 22 in Bellevue. The event featured speakers discussing the latest trends and issues in public education along with workshops and clinics on a variety of topics.

An earlier version of this story misstated that Nowlin participated in the meeting as a director. Nowlin did not vote on any actions.
