Drivers can expect a smooth ride on Highway 525 in Clinton by summer.

The highway from the Clinton ferry terminal to Bob Galbreath Road is set to receive a fresh coat of asphalt, the state Department of Transportation said Thursday.

While details are still being finalized, work crews are set to begin work on the half-mile stretch of road in the spring, during the daytime and at night.

“As with any highway project, there will be some delays for drivers, but WSDOT will work closely with the contractor to minimize those delays, especially during peak ferry hours of operation,” said Dave Chesson, a WSDOT spokesman.

Krieg Construction Inc. of Oak Harbor was awarded the project last week after submitting the lowest bid of $599,977.
