The Board of Island County Commissioners and the Island County Planning Commission are holding a joint workshop on the comprehensive plan update from 1-4:30 p.m. May 23 in the county commissioners’ meeting room at 1 6th St. NE in Coupeville.
On the agenda for the workshop is an update on the comprehensive plan process, critical areas ordinance draft policy options, review and discussion of preliminary working draft Island County comprehensive plan chapters, review and discussion of preliminary working draft for the Freeland subarea plan and a discussion on the next steps for the comprehensive plan update.

Due to the afternoon workshop, the Island County Planning Commission meeting May 23 has been moved to 5:30-7:30 p.m. The meeting will have a hearing and deliberation on the proposed changes to the adopted fish and wildlife conservation area regulations to address a growth management hearings board order. There will also be a presentation and recommendation on urban growth area boundaries and joint planning area overlays for the 2016 comprehensive plan update.
