The Holmes Harbor Rod & Gun Club will host a quick-draw specialist Saturday.
James Austin, one of the best Western fast-draw shooters in the Northwest, and local Mike Gallion will set up the fast-draw equipment for a demo and competition at 9 a.m.
All interested people are welcome to attend and try their hand. Two electronic target boards will be set up and at the green light, shooters draw and fire special wax bullets at the target. Upon impact the clock stops and times are recorded. Fastest time wins, but everyone has fun.
Equipment consisting of revolvers chambered in a .45 Colt and special holsters with safety wings (to prevent injury from a premature shot) as well as the wax bullet ammo will be available to use.
Following the fast-draw at noon, the gun club will have a novice trap shoot for those interested in the game but not quite ready to come out for the regular Thursday and Sunday shoots. One-on-one instruction will be available and some loaner shotguns as well. Cost is $12 per 25 shots which includes targets, ammo and instruction.
