Water and oil don’t mix. But neither does non-stop rain and chalk art.
The Langley Sidewalk Chalk Art Festival 2008 has been postponed until Thursday due to the weather. Organizers said Tuesday’s rain, and Wednesday’s forecast for more wet weather, made the scheduling change necessary.
The annual festival takes place all around the streets of Langley and runs from noon to 4:30 p.m. Residents and children of all ages create mandalas or circles of color on city sidewalks. This year’s theme is “Think Green.”
The check-in is now planned for 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Island Coffeehouse & Books. Artists can stop by then to pick up free chalk and the location of their square.
The Chalk Art Festival is sponsored by the South Whidbey Youth Connection, Island Coffeehouse & Books, the city of Langley and the Island Arts Council’s Whidbey Island Open Studio Tour.
