South Whidbey school board elects new officers

South Whidbey School District’s Board of Directors reorganized in the annual election of officers during their regular meeting Wednesday, Dec. 18.

Director Linda Racicot was voted in as chairwoman, Steve Scoles accepted a nomination of vice-chairman and board auditor. In the previous year, Scoles served as board chairman and Racicot as vice-chairwoman. Fred O’Neal continued his position as legislative representative. Damian Greene will also continue as the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association representative. The newly-elected Rocco Gianni was voted to serve as the policy representative.

The officers serve a one-year term. The vote takes place at the first regular meeting once newly-elected board members are seated during election years, and the first regular meeting in December for non-election years.
