Thomas Gill remains in first place in the three-way race for Position 4 for the Langley City Council.

Island County’s election office released a second vote tally on Thursday, and another 56 ballots were counted in the race.

Bruce Allen is still in second, and Jonathon Moses, third. The top two candidates will advance to the November election.

The gap between Allen and Moses has grown from four votes to five in the latest count.

Allen has amassed 147 votes, and Moses, 142.

Gill, a candidate who has tried three times in recent years to gain a council seat through an appointment or election, has 158 votes. His percentage of the vote climbed to 35.3 percent Thursday from 34.5 percent on Election Night.

Allen has dipped to 32.8 percent Thursday from 33.5 percent on the first day of counting; Moses has 31.7 percent of the vote, down slightly from 31.9 percent in the first vote tally.

In the race for Position 3 on the city council, the vote percentage has stayed constant through the second tally, with Jim Sundberg collecting 45 percent of the vote; Robin Adams with 31 percent; and Kathleen Waters, 23 percent.

An additional 55 votes were counted in the race Thursday.

Proposition 1, the proposal to change the city’s form of government from council-mayor to council-manager, remains at a 76 percent “no” vote in the second count.

Another 64 votes cast on the Prop. 1 question were counted Thursday.

The next count is scheduled for Aug. 25, and election workers estimate there will be approximately 25 ballots countywide to review.
