Candice Burt, a class of 2000 South Whidbey High School graduate, began a long journey Friday.
The former Falcon and South Whidbey resident started a 165-mile trek on the Tahoe Rim Trail. Burt planned to run for the trail’s fastest recorded woman’s time.
She was fundraising as well for trail building, maintenance and education with the Tahoe Rim Trail Association.
“I am really excited to use my fastest known time attempt to inspire people to give to this great organization and to inspire women to try new adventures by seeing what is possible,” Burt wrote in an email.
