Ester Moe Lodge bestows donations to worthy causes

On Saturday, Jan. 9, lodge president Marcia Jacobsen Comer named nine groups and the amounts awarded to each: Good Cheer building fund, $500; Whidbey Island Nourishes, $100; Hearts & Hammers, $250; Citizens Against Domestic & Sexual Abuse, $250; Gifts from the Heart Food Bank, $250; Holiday House, $250; Trinity Lutheran Church, $250; Helping Hand of South Whidbey, $250; and South Whidbey Commons, $250.

At the same meeting, two new members — Karen Weber and Sharon Johnson — were welcomed, and officers for the coming year named.

New officers for 2010 were installed. They are president Marcia Jacobsen Comer; vice president Diane Crawford; secretary Salli Schonning; financial secretary Janice Dakin; treasurer Pat Nostrand; trustees Carol Olson, Arlene Diamond and Suzanne Ramsey; judge and scribe DeAnn Lofthus-Olson; marshals Jean Milfs and Betty Lehman; cultural director Mary Ann Saglie; greeters Julie Sand and Carolyn Haroldson; and musician Kathy Foster.

Installing officer was Grand Lodge secretary Judy Hadlock, assisted by installing marshal and parliamentarian Mary Spurgeon.
