A motor vehicle accident in Freeland Saturday has left one man in the hospital and another facing charges of vehicular assault, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Langley resident Jeffrey Parker, 51, was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for injuries he sustained in the accident. A hospital official reported his condition Sunday morning as “satisfactory.”
A state patrol memo reports the accident occurred at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, in the intersection of Main Street and Highway 525.
Parker was southbound on the state route on a 2007 KYMCO VENOX250 motorcycle. He was passing through the intersection when he was struck by a 1986 Isuzu pickup driven by Freeland resident Donald Cannon, 54.
Cannon was westbound on Main Street at the time and “failed to stop at a controlled intersection,” according to the state patrol memo. Both vehicles came to rest within the intersection.
Cannon was not injured, and booked into Island County Jail for vehicular assault. The state patrol suspects he was driving while impaired.
