SWCC pastors launch new series on Sunday
How does the Law and the Prophets impact 21st century Christianity? Did Jesus end strict observance of the Law, or did he leave a new and better understanding of how the Law applies? Pastors Darrell Wenzek and Ron Wedeking are embarking on a new series from the Gospel of Matthew that will challenge our ideas on this important topic.
At 10 a.m. Sunday at South Whidbey Community Church, Pastor Wenzek will speak on the “Fulfilling of the Old Law,” based on Matthew 5:17-20.

Service contemplates God’s nature and MLK
There was a time when Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King considered becoming Unitarians, but they eventually decided that they needed the backing of a more broadly Christian constituency.
At the Sunday service for the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Whidbey Island, Rev. Kit Ketcham will consider the nature of God as revealed in Martin Luther King Jr.’s life and how it might reveal his perspective on Unitarian Universalism.
All are welcome. Values-based children’s religious exploration classes and childcare will be provided.
The service is at 10 a.m. at 20103 Highway 525, just north of Freeland.
There will be an open house from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for anyone curious about the congregation, its religious education program or the facilities. Check www.whidbey.com/uucwi for more information.
Spiritual life is the topic at Christian Science Society
The 10:30 a.m. Christian Science service will focus on spiritual life and how that can sustain all your needs. “Man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live” (Deuteronomy 8:3).
The material demands and temptations of 2010 might make Biblical promises about spiritual life sustaining the material seem impractical. Yet the instability of the human economy supports the idea that more than the material is needed.
The church is located at 15910 Highway 525 (just north of Bayview and across from Useless Bay Road).
