Lakewood won its second league game of the season and remained undefeated overall at 5-0.

Falcon quarterback Nick French scored the lone South Whidbey touchdown on a short run, followed by senior Cooper Nichols’ extra-point kick.

Nichols booted in a field goal later in the first quarter from 22 yards out to put South Whidbey ahead 10-0.

Lakewood found its rhythm later with long plays. The Cougars scored touchdowns on a 27-yard pass, a 13-yard run, a 47-yard pass and a 25-yard run. Only one score was less than 10 yards, a 7-yard touchdown run.

The Falcons (1-2 conference; 3-2 overall) lost their second-straight Cascade Conference game by allowing 35 points. Previously, South Whidbey held its first three opponents to 22 or less.

South Whidbey faces Archbishop Murphy (0-2 conference; 1-3 overall), the league’s former champion that has fallen on hard times this season. The contest will be the Falcons’ homecoming game at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11.
