A 1989 graduate of South Whidbey High School is missing in Hawaii and may be dead, the victim of foul play, police on the Big Island say.

Jason Adams, 39, of Mountain View, was last seen driving a pickup truck last Friday morning after he left his house for Hilo, according to a television news report.

KGMB 9 Television said the truck was found Saturday on the Onomea Scenic Route.

Thursday evening, acting on a tip from an anonymous caller, police using tracking dogs found a man’s body in the Onomea area, about a quarter mile from where Adams’ empty pickup had been found.

The caller had telephoned police after hearing gunshots in the area, officers say.

Police have yet to release the name of the victim, but a murder investigation has been opened.
