To the editor:

I want to use this opportunity to thank the editor, publisher and staff of the South Whidbey Record for the publicity and pressure you put on the Nigeria Authority which collectively worked toward my release from detention.

I also want to thank all residents of South Whidbey who stood by my wife and me during our very trying period in jail. Your prayers, show of love compassion and empathy were part of the reason why I was released early from Nigerian detention. If it were possible, I would come to your individual homes to show my appreciation and gratitude for all your care. It is most gratifying for me to know that I have such a caring family and community.

I hope everyone in the community may attend the event at 7 p.m. Sunday night at the Methodist Church sponsored by the Giraffe Project so I may express my appreciation personally to each and every one of you.
