The South Whidbey Community Tennis Association will host a tennis “play day” from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 25 at South Whidbey High School. It is a free, organized afternoon of tennis for all ages.
Events include singles and doubles champions of the court. Participants play best of five points against other players, and winners stay to be challenged by different players. The courts will be divided by two levels: recreational and competitive.
In the cardio tennis sampler, attendees can try 15 minutes of cardio tennis which is an aerobic workout on the tennis court set to music.
A kids court for players 10 and younger will have stations and activities with an adult caregiver, for ages 4-10.
Another children’s activity is the 10-and-younger mini-courts set up for rallying.
Accuracy is crucial to tennis, and participants can practice at the hit-the-target-prize court. Players with shots that hit a prize win the prize.
Players should bring a racquet, but loaner racquets will be available.
Membership is not required for the play day, and families are encouraged to participate.
SWCTA T-shirts will be available for $12 and memberships will also be available; the cost is $10 per individual, $20 per family.
The play day will be canceled if it rains.
