Chamber welcomes its new members
The Langley Chamber of Commerce is welcoming two new members.
Ed Young is the owner of Whidbey Island Kayaking Company.
Young and his wife Stephanie purchased a vacation home on South Whidbey in 1994 and moved to Whidbey Island in 2001 and started Whidbey Island Kayaking Company that same year.
“Langley and especially the Inns and B&Bs have strongly supported and promoted our kayaking business,” Young said. “One of the things I hear from my customers is ‘What else is there to do?’”
“The Langley area has wonderful but under-utilized resources for the active tourist,” he added.
“As a board member, I would like to try and attract this largely untapped pool of recreational tourists who will in turn support local merchants.”
Also new on board at the chamber is Debbie Torget.
Torget, who was born and raised on Whidbey Island, has worked with Goosefoot Community Fund since its inception in 1999.
She currently serves as the organization’s chief operating officer, managing the commercial and residential property owned by Goosefoot.
“I’m really happy to be active in the Langley Chamber’s role in connecting and influencing Langley merchants and move forward with zip and vitality; and definitely have some fun while doing so,” she said.
“It’s great to be on the chamber board at a time when the organization is looking both inward and outward about how to best serve its members and the larger community,” Torget added.
