MoveOn Whidbey and Island County Democrats invite interested progressives to socialize and share thoughts about 9/11.

MoveOn Whidbey and Island County Democrats invite interested progressives to socialize and share thoughts about 9/11.

The informal party is from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11.

“It’s sort of a no-agenda gathering,” said organizer and MoveOn member Carolyn Tamler.

Attendees are invited to bring a finger food to share and a beverage to drink. Organizers also recommend bringing a blanket and a chair for the lawn at a private home in Langley. Musicians who want to sing a peaceful song are encouraged to bring their guitars and perform.

Anyone may attend, whether or not they are members of either group. Tamler said the hosts would like to know how many guests to expect and prepare for, and asks attendees to RSVP by emailing her at carolyntamler@whidbey.net or calling her at 222-6820.

Tamler said 20 guests replied by Wednesday. One MoveOn member said she wants more people at the event.

“I’m hoping for as many participants as possible,” said Carol Krez.

Though the event has no structured speakers or itinerary, Krez highlighted Marshall Goldberg as another interesting MoveOn member. Goldberg is also a listed local contact for Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth, a group that petitions for an independent investigation of the World Trade Center destruction.

MoveOn.org Civic Action is a nonprofit political action committee. It works to involve and inform voters for progressive and liberal ideals. MoveOn Whidbey has more than 300 members on its mailing list on Whidbey Island and beyond, and is the only MoveOn group on Whidbey.
