‘Battle the Opponent’ at Unity
Rev. Eddie Rodriguez will give the talk “Battling the Opponent” at the Unity of Whidbey service on Sunday.
Rodriguez’s lesson will speak of the battle that has raged since the beginning of human existence. Defeating this opponent requires claiming our divine nature and remembering the tools we have all been given to be victorious in each moment of now.
Music will be performed by Heidi Hoelting and Karen McInerney will serve as platform assistant.
After the service a Heart Circle will meet from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Unitarian Universalism and Christianity will be explored
Unitarian Universalism is a direct descendent of Christianity but has diverged significantly from many traditional doctrines of its parent faith.
This Sunday at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Whidbey Island service, Rev. Kit Ketcham will explore how Unitarians acknowledge and respect their roots while evolving to new beliefs and practices.
The service is at 10 a.m. and all are welcome. Values-based children’s religious exploration classes and childcare will be provided. The Unitarian Universalist Congregation meets at 20103 Highway 525, just north of Freeland.

Joyful service is at Christian Science
The Christian Science service on Sunday, June 26 is an exploration on Christian Science and its relationship to the teachings of Jesus Christ and his lessons: “And these signs shall follow them that believe … They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover,” (Mark 16: 17, 18).
Those signs of which Jesus spoke were not limited to his time only; everyone today has the ability and right to use the tools. Everyone is welcome to join in this joyful exploration of how to live Jesus’ teaching every day.
Services begin at 10:30 a.m. at 15910 Highway 525, just north of Bayview and across from Useless Bay Road.
‘Name it and Claim it’ is topic at SWCC
Pastor Darrell Wenzek will be speaking tomorrow morning at South Whidbey Community Church on the topic, “Name it and Claim it,” based on the Old Testament book of Joshua, chapters 16-19.
Sunday worship is from 10 to 11 a.m. and is preceded by an adult learning forum at 9 with Stan Walker leading a study in the Book of First Corinthians, and Rick Zapata leading a study in the Book of Genesis: the life of the Patriarchs.
SWCC gathers for worship at the Deer Lagoon Grange.
