‘Jesus and the Law’ series continues
Sunday at South Whidbey Community Church, Pastor Ron Wedeking steps into the pulpit to continue the series on “Jesus and the Law.”
His sermon topic is “Taking the Law to the Next Level,” based on Matthew 5:21-30.
Morning worship begins at 10 a.m. and is preceded by the adult learning forum at 9 a.m., with Stan Walker leading a study in the Book of Acts and Art Angst leading a study into Parables in the Gospel of Luke. These are open classes where everyone is invited.

Faith is topic at Unity of Whidbey
Continuing an exploration of the 12 Powers of Man as conceived by Unity co-founder Charles Fillmore, Keith Mack will talk about faith, the first of the 12 Powers at the Unity of Whidbey service on Sunday.
His message, “Focus on the Christ, not the crisis,” is inspired by the story of the disciple Peter’s walk to Jesus across the surface of a lake during a storm.
Talia Toni Marcus will provide music for the service, which begins at 10 a.m. at 5671 Crawford Road. All are welcome.
‘Awakening the Inner Mystic’ at UUCWI
Elizabeth Frediani will explore the idea of mysticism as an accessible part of daily life — and discuss the importance of cultivating inner stillness and receptivity to our bodies, our knowing and the world around us, at the Sunday service for the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Whidbey Island.
Frediani’s work with subtle energy began in 1972, and after a decade of formal study, she created a system of energy-based meditation practices and healing techniques. She founded the Transformational Healing Institute in Boulder, Colo. and directed the school for seven years.
Her book, “Where Body Meets Soul: Subtle Energy Practices for Physical and Spiritual Self-Care,” will be available after the service.
Values-based children’s religious exploration classes and childcare will be provided.

Finding ‘truth’ at Christian Science service
Finding “truth” that has been promised to us doesn’t have to be an impossible task. Jesus emphasized that his teachings were full of “truth.” “…the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generation.” (Psalms 100: 5)
The Christian Science service on Sunday, Jan. 24 explores ways of finding spiritual “Truth” in order to make it a part of our daily life.
Everyone is welcome at all Sunday services beginning at 10:30 a.m. at 5910 Highway 525 (just north of Bayview and across from Useless Bay Road).
